Data Center Structured Cabling and Fiber
Tested and labeled before we hand it over
Core-1 is a Division 27 cabling contractor working in data centers, colocation cages and telecom rooms across NYC, New Jersey and Philadelphia. We install, terminate, test and label copper and fiber, land cross-connects, and hand back a closeout package that matches what's actually in the rack.
Copper cabling
Cat6 and Cat6A for in-rack patching, horizontal runs and patch panels. Cable gets dressed into managers and ladder rack, bundled with hook-and-loop ties, and labeled at both ends with printed labels. Every run is tested before closeout. If your spec calls for TIA-568 certification with a PDF report per drop, tell us when we scope the job so the certifier is booked for your date.
Fiber
Single-mode and multimode, LC and SC patching, MPO/MTP trunks and cassettes for high-density switching, and fiber patch panels. End faces get cleaned before every connection. New links are verified end to end before we hand them over, and OTDR testing is available when you need to find a fault or document a run's length and loss.
When a port flaps on CRC errors, the cause is often a dirty connector, a pinched patch cable or the wrong optic. Those are the first things we check, before anyone orders a replacement switch.
Cross-connects and carrier circuits
We land cross-connects inside colocation facilities, work the LOA/CFA paperwork with the facility, and confirm link before the carrier closes the ticket. That includes extending carrier circuits from the demarc to your cage or rack.
Labeling and documentation
Labels follow your scheme, or we set one up if you don't have one. Closeout includes port maps, updated rack elevations, test results, and photos of patch panels and cable runs before the cabinet doors and ceiling tiles go back on. That's the record your next tech works from.
Working with GCs and primes
On construction and renovation projects, we take the Division 27 scope: cabling, termination, testing, labeling and closeout. Conduit, core drilling and other electrical work go to the licensed electrical contractor on the job. We coordinate pathways with them so the cable goes in once.
Where we work
We cover the Northern New Jersey data center market, the Manhattan carrier hotels and the five boroughs, and the Philadelphia metro, and we travel for project work. For local detail, see data center cabling in New Jersey and data center cabling in New York. For installing the equipment all this plugs into, see rack and stack services.
Frequently asked questions
What does structured cabling include?
The cabling system that connects your equipment: copper and fiber runs, patch panels, cable management, termination, testing and labeling. In a data center it also covers the trunks between racks and the cross-connects to carriers.
Do you test every run?
Yes. Copper and fiber are tested before closeout and the results go in the closeout package. Certification reports and OTDR traces are available when the job calls for them.
Can you supply the cable and materials?
Yes, or we install what you've already bought. If we supply it, materials are listed on the quote.
Do you work on GC-led construction projects?
Yes. We bid Division 27 scope as a subcontractor and work to the project's specs, submittals and schedule.
Can you trace and clean up existing cabling?
Yes. Tracing unlabeled runs, pulling abandoned cable, re-dressing racks and building a port map from what's actually there is regular work for us, usually before a migration or an audit. See infrastructure cleanup.
How is cabling work priced?
Per drop or per scope for new installs, hourly for tracing and troubleshooting. Pricing comes in writing after we review the drawings or walk the site.
